Neighborhood Photo Project

Neighborhood Photo Project tells the past and present story of the Greater Shorb Neighborhood and the people that live there through guided conversations and pictures taken by residents.

We need you – a resident photographer.

What is a resident photographer?
A resident photographer is someone who lives in the Greater Shorb neighborhood or Northwest side of Canton and takes pictures of what they see around them. This could include all sorts of things such as streets, houses, family, friends, barbecues – anything you find interesting or want to share.

How can you become a resident photographer?
There are two ways you can contribute to this project.

First, you can use your phone or camera to take photos. Then, submit up to 20 pictures to kellyk@cantonforallpeople.org and answer the questions below so we have a better understanding of your story.

Second, you can sign up below to go on a photo walk with our staff photographer. We will bring a camera for you to use and go on a walk in your neighborhood, take photos of what we see and talk about it. A photo walk could last an hour or longer depending how much you want to share through stories and pictures.

You do not need to contribute both ways, but you have the option of how you’d like to be part of this project.

Where will the photos be shared?
After we begin to receive photos and go on photo walks, we will put together an essay of resident stories and photos and will share them later this year to the public and a designated page on Canton For All People’s website.

The “why” behind the project.
There is history all around us as what we see everyday usually goes unnoticed. This is a way to pause and learn more about your neighborhood and the people who live there.

You are the storyteller.

How do you submit photos or sign up for a photo walk?
Submit your photos to kellyk@cantonforallpeople.org and answer the questions below. To sign up for a photo walk, provide your contact information below in the required boxes. You can also email the communications director at kellyk@cantonforallpeople.org.

Submit up to 20 photos here.

Would you like to sign up for a photo walk?
